Who we are
Agora is a civic-tech platform designed to reconnect people with power by making government data more transparent, accessible, and actionable. Named after the ancient Greek agora — the public square where citizens met to discuss laws and shape the future of their city — we’re building a new kind of digital commons: one where technology serves people, not the other way around.
We created Agora because we saw the gap — between the public and public information, between legislation and lived experience, between decision-makers and the communities they serve. Our platform was born from years of listening: to community advocates who couldn’t find the right bill, to small businesses confused by public procurement, to everyday people asking, “Who represents me?”
At Agora, we turn these human insights into practical tools. We use Python-based scrapers and APIs to gather public data from legislative sites, government procurement systems, and grant platforms. We store and organize that data using Firebase, and enhance it using AI agents that help explain, summarize, and surface the most relevant information. But technology is not the point — it’s the bridge.
Our mission is to transform the way people interact with civic information — by making it clear, usable, and designed for real-life action.
Our vision is a world where civic participation is not only possible, but intuitive — where residents are informed, communities are organized, and decisions are made in the open.
We believe every feature we build should answer a real question someone has asked. That’s why our development process begins not with code, but with people. We sit with small business owners trying to bid on their first public contract. We talk with nonprofit leaders navigating policy change. We observe how users search, struggle, and succeed — and then we build.
Agora is more than a platform. It’s a growing ecosystem of tools, insights, and collaborations rooted in the belief that democracy is strongest when everyone can understand and engage with the systems that shape their lives.
Whether you're an advocate, policymaker, entrepreneur, or simply a curious citizen — Agora is for you.
